"A good strategist is half psychologist, half sadist. And I was the best."

If Overlord were to make an OK Cupid profile, the things he would list off for "Three things people notice about me" would be: My face, my intelligence, and my giant murder boner. Not exactly in those words, but that's the idea. On a typical Friday night he can be found slowly torturing his victims or decimating an entire world, and six things he can't live without would be Megatron, torture, slaughter, death, chaos, and energon. He's a real catch.

Although Overlord is described as a psychopath, he fits more along the lines of a malignant narcissist. Malignant narcissists are described to be "the quintessence of evil" and characterized as pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience, with demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism. Overlord's personality is all of this. He takes joy in cruelty, he takes comfort in his own power. Above all, he values the chaos and destruction of life above everything else.

There's no information to say that, before the war, if Overlord had ever demonstrated more 'normal' thought patterns. If there ever had been, then it was likely lost to time and the 'bogeyman' persona that he has crafted around himself. Even before his elevation to a Phase Sixer -- hand picked by Megatron to sterilize worlds -- he was a savage fan of gladiatorial battle. It wasn't the promise of abolishing suffering or the removal of the corrupt senate that drew him to the Decepticon cause, but the glory and rush of battle, the high that he received from watching the Spark light die from another mech's eyes. That is something he found pleasurable.

He's a hedonist at Spark, sadist to the core. War, chaos, torture, and murder are all things that Overlord delights in. It's part of the reason that drives him to take over Garrus-9 and turn it into a horror show: he enjoyed it, and that's all. A narration from Overlord's point of view detailed his love for hand-to-hand combat. He likes to get his hands dirty-- covered in energon, more like. The rush of combat is intoxicating to him, but like every high, it doesn't last forever. Overlord is easily bored; as battles wind to an end, the elation he feels drifts away. He feels empty without the rush more than anything. He has one ultimate prize in mind: a final battle with Megatron.

Overlord is obsessed with Megatron. It's possible this obsession started with his admiration of his gladiator battles and only grew more intense after he joined the Decepticon ranks. The Phase Sixer had already grown bored with the murder of battalions of Autobots by the time Megatron proposed to him his rank and purpose. For that, he asked what would become of him if he was unsatisfied and which Megatron replied he'd hunt him down personally.

The thought of being chased down by Megatron was too enticing to him-- he defected, anticipating the hunt. Overlord is a mech that spent his every day thinking about him, weighing all his actions on how likely they were to bait the Lord of Decepticons into following him. He vied for his attention, strained for it, and felt his first real disappointment when he realized Megatron didn't care about him.

Not that Overlord didn't put up a good attempt. He's very charismatic and spent much of his time creating a persona that would strike fear into both enemy and allies. By utilizing fear, he could coax and break mechs into doing as he wished. It's painfully easy for him to seize control of any 'army' for that reason; dispatch the leader, and the soldiers fall in place behind him out of sheer terror. He's not just a brute, though. Overlord has to do things with a certain finesse. He has a flair for the dramatic, often time communicating in grand motions, or even fighting in smooth, juggernaut-like movements. It makes it a little more enjoyable to build up the tension, after all.

He's highly intelligent and uses it to his advantage in both combat situations and strategical movements. He was able to keep off the radar for years at a time, just popping into battlefields whenever the feeling struck to decimate Autobot forces, then leave as swiftly. He's a genius and master psychologist-- he claims to be able to look at any opponent and know instantly how to crush them. It appears to be true, as Overlord has been seen to be ruthless with his torture, both physical and psychological. He knows how to manipulate other mech's fears and how to cast himself as a grotesque horror. He knows just how to drive another mech insane, just for the delight of it. And he's patient. He's very patient. The methods are just as sweet as the result.

*Powers/Abilities:
Overlord's canonically described as "so powerful he redefined the word". Overlord was one of three Decepticons chosen by Megatron to be one of his 'Phase Sixers', which is a fancy term for extremely powerful individuals that were deployed to wipe out planets whose civilizations were on the brink of collapse. In other words, they're living war machines. He's above average in size (not quite massive, but definitely larger than the normal cybertronian), a tactical and strategical genius, and possesses a veritable arsenal of weaponry on his body.

As a cybertronian, he has the natural ability to transform between forms, but unlike many cybertronians he has more than one alternate form. Aside from his robot form, Overlord has the ability to transform into a heavy artillery tank and a cybertronian jet. Overlord has no need to return to his robot form between changes-- he can fly into a battlefield as a jet, then transform into his tank form in air and drop in.

Even in robot mode, Overlord's exoskeleton is extremely resilient to damage. Attacks that would normally kill the average cybertronian merely damage him. Sometimes not even that. He's been shown to shrug off most gunfire and a harpoon to the face that would normally destroy another mech's head, merely damaged an eye. A full body exoskeletal detonation and burning did not kill him, only weakened him to a state that he could be arrested.

Overlord possesses special subroutines that are meant to subconsciously generate tactics and weaponry in his body to deal with any possible enemy situation. Of his weaponry, he's currently known to possess guns and cannons in his stomach, guns in his arms, and a large gun that transforms into his cannon in tank mode. On top of that, Overlord is extremely physically strong and able to withstand and deal with practically being smothered by dozens of mechs. He's a planet killer. He's used to his kill counts being in the thousands.

*Starting Polarity: :1 someone who can put up with a battlecrazy, psychopathic mech with a raging crush.

*First Person Sample:
[ Overlord always had a bit of a flair for the dramatic when addressing an audience, so video it is.

He's unashamed of showing his face, broken eye and all, energon drying on his cheek. He surveys the feed for a moment, annoyance tugging at his expression. It eventually molds into a default smile. ]

Perhaps one of you would be kind enough to help me.

[ And just by the tone of his voice, it's less asking and more of a demand. ]

I'm looking for a very specific group of Autobots. Wreckers. You see, we were in the middle of something very special.

[ He holds up something now-- something frayed and battered and in the very distinct shape of a face. ]

Especially this one. I'm not finished eviscerating him.

*Third Person Sample:
Garrus-9 had become Overlord's kingdom. The battle hadn't been satisfying in itself-- it had been far too easy to seize control. It was hardly anything that he would call an accomplishment, especially for an individual such as himself.

The Decepticons who had begun the seige fell over in fear and awe as always and the Autobots... already weakened, were far too easy to crush. No, Overlord's satisfaction came from watching all the pieces carefully fall into place and all the chaotic glory.

The energon had flowed like a river. One he had gladly waded through.

Now it was time to reap the awards. Already the prison had begun to take shape into the frameworks of his vision. He could hear screams, keenly, from somewhere within the prison block he roamed as former prisoners paid homage to their former guard. He could hear the crunch of armor being bent, the snap of fuel lines, the shatter of optic glass. He shuddered. Glorious.

The wastes drying on his plating had begun to become tacky, and as Overlord brushes a hand through the stains, he dislodges a stray chip here, a bit of rubber there. He was no stranger to gore; the feel of another mech's energon dripping down his plating is something that he found invigorating. Still, Overlord knew the hazards of letting coolant and other wastes dry in the cracks of his plating.

By all means, the wash rack was supposed to be here. It was a private room, reserved for higher ranked officials that toured the facility. Overlord ran his hand over the wall where the door was supposed to be, and was nowhere in sight. He scowled, all amusement and pleasure gone from his features. Pathetic that the guard had thought that feeding him wrong information would give him any sort of satisfaction.

He commed Stalker. "Stalker. And how is your current project?" The muffled groans of agony told him all he needed to know. The smile returned to his lips. "Still alive, I see. Maybe sure to make your work excruciatingly painful. Oh and try and keep him alive. I want to make a personal visit to him later."

Final Notes: At this point in canon, Overlord is missing a hand, has a broken eye, and is pumped full of deterrence chips. Wondering if it's okay if he shows up like this? Missing a hand and the eye thing are no big deal to him, and the deterrence chips are something that need to be 'activated' by a code.
